Academic Model

Learning is strongest when

  • Teachers specialize
  • Expectations are consistent
  • Routines are predictable
  • Class sizes are small
  • Instruction is hands-on
  • Fitness strengthens focus
  • Relationships are strong

ALA uses a departmentalized K–8 model, giving your child two core teachers:

Humanities Teacher
Reading, Writing, Vocabulary, Literature, Social Studies

STEM Teacher
Math, Science, Engineering, LEGO Robotics

This ensures students receive expert-level teaching across all subjects.

Essentialism—Strong Foundations

We believe every child deserves a solid academic foundation.
Essentialism gives students:

  • Clear expectations
  • Strong reading, writing, and math skills
  • Structured routines
  • Mastery of essential knowledge

This builds confidence and prepares students for long-term success.

Constructivism—Joyful Discovery

We also believe children learn best when they explore, create, and make meaning.
Constructivism gives students:

  • Hands-on learning
  • Problem-solving opportunities
  • Collaboration with peers
  • Real-world projects
  • Creativity and curiosity

This makes learning exciting, memorable, and meaningful.

Best of Both Worlds

By blending essentialism and constructivism, we create a learning environment that is:

  • Structured but engaging
  • Rigorous but joyful
  • Predictable but inspiring

Students gain the strong foundation they need—and the confidence to lead, discover, and build their legacy.
